Update on the new Space – News and Updates – Red Brick Cafe

redbrick03Sorry for the late posts!  It was a very busy ten weeks before opening, and then it has been a whirlwind first three weeks…..
I am going to attempt to take you through our whole reno process so it will take a couple of posts.  Considering we started with an empty space, the next posts will be the process we went through to get where we are today.
When we received the keys, our new business home was an empty shell; an ugly pinky/beige shell. redbrick04 We had a vision and a working budget.  The project was daunting!  So Mike and I sat down and started our plan.
To say that the ten weeks before we opened was not stressful would be  an understatement.  Mike was working mornings and then going to the new place while I was taking up as much time as I could planning the move and working the cafe.  Moving in increments is challenging and can be extremely unorganized when you do not have the space to immediately move it to.
Shortly after we received the keys, Mike went to invest in the paint.  Going from an ugly, stomach turning colour to a Revere Pewter with white ceiling made the space start to feel like our own.  It was still feeling like it wasn’t really real because we hadn’t moved in yet……the countdown was on until the move….
Next instalment soon!
